It was advertised as having a Steranko cover. I think Sal Q said it was too dark to use, or something to that effect. Looks like paperback cover art, or maybe it was sample art Steranko used to get cover gigs. I remember the Barr art was also used as a paperback cover for Guns of Avalon. Maybe it works better as a Fanzine cover, but I prefer the edginess of the Steranko. You can tell he had a good Western comic in him somewhere, but I guess he never had the opportunity. I can imagine him taking on Zeus Comics' Black Leather Kid.
Russ, thanks again for all the good info! I dig that paperback cover. Yeah, I think Steranko had an edgy Western in him also. Dinnae know of Black Leather Kid, but he sorta reminded me of Steranko's cover on Western Gunfighters #14
It must mean back cover surely.

DeleteWell, the kinky Black Leather Kid comics and all the other sleazy Zeus Comics were just a hoax; they never existed.
ReplyDeleteHa! You got me on that! I just thought it was off my radar, but made some sense considering the advent of the comics code etc.
Deleteadd'n the REAL Kid now
