From Mongo To Mars by Bob Kline

Third image is the only new one on here (and it could be jiv'n me, too*), the back cover of Hot Stuf' #4.  Don't know if HS was a fanzine or just a comic (definitely Harvey's HS is a kid's comic), but irregardless, Kline was a fanzine artist.  He, along with Fujitake and Fantucchio and Art Cooper and Ned Young make the fistful I call The Fanzine Fab Five
*From the classic blues verse "Nobody loves me but my momma, and she could be jiv'n me, too"

Picture Perfect Jim Steranko

In the wayback, I had up at least 4 unseen Shadows of this cover, The Black Master, but they pale next to this one.  Steranko pencils really are onea the greatest pleasures of this passion for comic art

Calendar Conan by Barry Smith

Okay, fundundancy rears its georgeous head on here again, but I have an explanation.  Been think'n in the back a that it's been a hot minute since I posted any Barry Smith.  Meanwhile, back at the ranch, this early AM I had the urge to listen to Peter Frampton Comes Alive.  Doing that has been a California minute also, and Frampton is a British-American in his mid seventies just like Barry, so I'm going with the fun but redundant calender picture (please embiggen these)

All In Color For A Dime by Steve Ditko

Okay, more like 250 dimes, but what a great color'n job on this Ditko Reader (course the original fanzine cover ain't too shabby, nither)

New Conan by Frank Cirocco and Neal Adams!

Yeah, yeah, just new to me.  The Cirocco is from the fanzine era (1975), but I'm clueless on the REH book

Hey, Russ! Another Shadow by Mike Kaluta

Russ pointed out in the wayback that we see a lot more Shadows from Kaluta than he ever drew while working on the actual comic, and here's another example

Bob Kline And John Severin Ads

Recently did a newsprint post, and it made me think about the great adzine/fanzine printed on newsprint-The Mirkwood Times.  This double-page ad is from issue #2

Para-Man by Gil Kane

When I first saw this cover (looked it up based on the fanzine pencils, by the by) I thought, "Wait a second!  He's just one guy!," but then I realized Ant-Man was also on the cover.  The whole magilla reminds me of the boat pulling into a bay, and there's a dock on both sides.  It was a real paradox

Just Stand'n Around by Jack Kirby

Talked about both of these in the wayback (especially a ton about that smok'n envelope), but I don't think I ever put two and two together.  If you know of other Kirby karacters just stand'n around out in the cosmos, please holla

Spellbound by Berni Wrightson

Onea his first trad'n cards, but I've always thought it coulda been more than just a card.  If you have any insights, please holla
Also, if you know anything about this other "spell" by Berni, I'd appreciate the info.  This copy just says comicartL/sorceror.jpg from 2003

Haven't seen another version in a while (check out the waybacks) of my fav Fritz Conan

Iron Aron, Iron Ork, and Pow! by Wally Wood

First guy is from The King of the World, second guy is from The Wizard King (mox nix, as the brats useta say in Germany), and the third guy was a proposal for Warren's attempt at Metal Hurlant.  The second guy looks just like what I envision Conan to be  (basically me with the hair I had in the seventies and the muscles I had in Cap'n's Dreams).  Weird thing is, when Wally did the Conan book cover in the wayback, it looked nothing like me (ooops! nothing like Conan)

Conan Button by Clyde Caldwell

Okay, seriously, I need, I want, I gotta have a better view of this button.  The fanzine ad said this was 3 inches in diameter and colored by Clyde, but all I got is this

Don't Stop Believ'n by Berni Wrightson

The panel from The Believer that I've found to be "all that and a cuppa joe" for the last half-century, first as it kinda/sorta appears in the iconic A Look Back (why I ever sold my first-print hardbound is beyond me, but I really bit myself in the foot, as John Crist would say), then as it was printed first in Vampirella #33, then what those in the know say is the way it shoulda been printed

Father's Day by Jack Kirby

If your step-dad was someone else's birth-dad, and your birth-dad was someone else's step-dad, you just might be a red-neck (er, I mean you just might be a new god).  As I said in the wayback (11 years ago), I would love to see this with Mike Royer inks

Miami Con by Neal Adams

Coupla subjects that Neal did ohsogreat, Green Lantern and Conan.  This is 1975, when his Conan print came out that was simply Georgeous.  You know, the one where a weary Conan in the rain is beckoning us to c'mere, taste my fury

RBCC #61 Cover by John Fantucchio

I'll be look'n at the moon, but I'll be RBCC'n you.  Always thought this cover was amazeballs, and years later, when I saw it black'n white in the incredible fanzine Sword And Fantasy, I fell in love all over again

Coupla Warlocks by Gil Kane

Onea these has never been up on here, and the other is posted here pretty much non-stop.  I asked Bert how it felt to have Gil Kane apologize so beautifully, but apparently he's not the same Bert

Lighten Up, Black Bolt! by Jack Kirby

Could just be me, mister Marvel Monthly Magazine editor, but I think the scosche darker pencils on the original art looks even better than the published cover

Posters by Bob Kline

Here's another fanzine obscura I wished I'd had sense enough to order.  The ad is a full page from RBCC, and the rest was , as Bargatze says, "just so many words!"  The first image is the great two-page spread of the same images from Bob's beautiful portfolio where, co-inky-dinkily, the two were printed together.  The Bloodstar (worm) image first appeared in the great fanzine Anomaly #1, and the Conan (boat) image was in Anomaly #2.  May have touched on this in the past, but I couldn't find anything, and they were che cool
