Orion by Jack Kirby
Maybe the quintessential Kirby hero, Orion of the New Gods was all Jack's, with a dark side that certainly made him relatable, a story so deep it blossomed into more of our entertainment world than we will ever know, and a pure power that harkens back to the birth of all this wonderful weirdness (Superman). Another amaz'ment to me is how only the Orion child appears in the ultimate comic (New Gods #7) at the very end, echoing the magic of Dostoevsky with The Idiot, people and events swirl all around on a grand scale, but the main character waits idly by like a survivor sitting quietly in the eye of the storm
