New Steranko! (yeah, yeah, just new to me) Sooo...so broke I cannae even pay attention, but, as Miss Congeniality once said, "I had no idea!" Please clue me in if you know of more on this
New to me too. The fact that it's hand-signed indicates a limited edition print. These seem to be public domain patriotic characters (Left to right: Flag-Man, V-Man, Yankee Doodle Jones and I don't know who the kid is, but he's probably about to die anyway. If Liberty Belle had a sidekick I'd call him Dingaling.) I wonder if this was released in conjunction with Craig Yoe's recent collection, The Super Patriotic Heroes?
The kid is Johnny Rebel originally from Yankee Comics - a sort of average version of his costume, which was colored differently in different comics. But I've never seen the painting before either. I have no idea when it was painted and if or where it was published.
This was completed by Steranko in 2019 as a book cover for The Liberty Brigade. Jim also sold the image as a print. I have a hi-res scan if you would like to see it better.
Wow, thanks, Tony! I just saw your georgeous copy of the print on Twitter (didnae know about The Liberty Brigade until you said it). Now I just need you to tell me about more Talon and/or Agent X! You're the best
