D Con '73 Cover by Dan Adkins

No, not the pest control poison, but the Dallas comic con progress report (what's a progress report?  "we are really getting serious about having a comic convention...read all about it").  I guess the most important thing about this great cover is:  I have no idea if any or all of it is a swipe, and if so, no idea where from.  Speak'n of which, this all started in the not-so-distant, when Russ told us the great Dynamo fanzine cover I'd posted was right from a Doc Savage paperback cover.  So here's a Dan Adkins Doc Savage, from Steranko's Comixscene #1 (Adkins was everywhere for a NY minute), and I'm wonder'n if that's a swipe (if so, hopefully from a Wally Wood Dynamo)

 As a tyke, I sat on Roy Rogers' great horse, Trigger.  Thirty-five years after that, I calmed my horse and then my wife's rearing horse in a thunderstorm.  Other than that, though, not much horse interactions, but I sure dig 'em in the comics, weather it's Kirby in Asgard or Gil Kane in a fantasyland

Tilt'n At Windmills With Dennis Fujitake

 This is a real shot in the dark, but I'm wondering if that first image is Fujitake.  It's a cropped photo (one of several) for an ad selling New Con 72.  I can't see a sig, and then a buncha 71 and 72 Fujitakes, finish'n with a cropped photo of an ad Dennis did himself, in 1972.  These drawings would be done first come, first served, for 6 bucks

The Quest For Steve Ditko Part III

 Okay, this was originally in the Sci-Fi magazine Questar #3, but not this version.  I don't even know which comic it was reprinted in, cause I just found this in a sleeve of onea my many binders.  If I did have Questar #3, this would be six big pages in a crisp black 'n white (print'n is pretty sharp on here, too)

Okay, I'm the first to say Iron Wolf rules and Cody Starbuck drools, but this OTHER Chaykin space pirate is pretty right-on, also.  Now, about his lost treasure, I can't find out where that last image is from
