The splash on 1951s Space Ace is signed Al Williamson, and Wally gets mentioned as maybe the inker or partial inker, but that ball (uh, globe?orb?) on page 6 is, to me, definitely onea Wally's

I think you're right about that one element, anyway. Definitely Williamson/Wood on "Death in Deep Space." Some of the earliest Williamson/Frazetta collabs that I wish someone would collect (but may be legally difficult) are all the John Wayne comics.
ReplyDeleteDunno if it's just the one element, since Space Ace has a handful of short, stout spaceships that could of flown right out a Space Detective. Definitely agree on the Fritz/Al John Waynes-just georgeous. Onea my fav I Love Lucys was John Wayne as the guest, and I always dug that Duke had a big screen mounted on the ceiling above his bed
