3 Broken Lances by Wally Wood

I have this "primal memory" (as REH might say) of even more

  1. Maybe in "Dragonella" or "King of the Ring"? Wood tended to swipe from himself a lot, if he found a picture he liked.

    1. Appreciate ya, but dinnae find any broken lances in those two. It was very nice to re-visit those, however, and it led to my next Wood post, so thanks! I get the feeling from Vanguard there may be some Dragonella I haven't seen from Heroes, Inc. and the sketchbook, so...who knows? King of the Ring had a Valiant knight, but the only thing he weilded besides his shield & sword was a ball 'n chain (ala Minos Taurus in his epic Armageddon). Speak'n of ball 'n chain, I gotta go! Later...

  2. I still think I've seen it somewhere else, but comics will do that to your brain. Looking forward to more Woodwork.

    1. I soooo agree (but you knew that), and his portfolio broken lance is the same as Witzend 4 (second image), but there's some fanzine one(s) out there, I'm sure. Yeah, another Woodwork is com'n right up, as they say at my neighborhood greasy spoon

  3. Well, it's not a version of this picture, but there is a knight with a broken lance in Woody's mid '60s ad for Valiant Records:
