Moonlight Ride On Mars by Roy Krenkel
Krenkel is a wonderful indulgence for me. I love the guy ( if you've never seen his classic portrait with his shoes curling up, please look it up), but somehow I can look at a dozen of his works and go "nah, not so hot...nope..nah...", and then, that thirteenth picture or so, I'll stop and stare in utter amazement at his genius. This is one of those amaz'n thirteenth pictures

Krenkel epitomizes Burroughs to me, probably the way St. John did for his generation. Those Ace paperbacks with their beautiful title lettering deserve to be reprinted in facsimile.
ReplyDeleteAnd I remember some eccentric, but beautiful, Krenkel pages for Creepy's "Loathsome Lore" back in the day.
Big true dat on the Burroughs stuff, but I beg to differ on the "Loathsome Lore." Again, just me, just not my cupa---but watch soon for a beauty from Krenkel--I just obtained an Otis Kline PB
