Now, don't get me wrong, cause I dig everything Ditko did on the original Spidey, include'n Doc Ock, but this initial image of Parker VS Doctor Octavius is amaz'n, and far and away greater than anything that followed. Check out the wayback for the cover I think is the ultimate Spidey VS Green Goblin, Spider Man #23

Frankenstein Model by Berni Wrightson
Five years ago I asked if anyone could lead me to a bigger version of that first image, and-viola! got another comic art wish. Course the first Frankenstein model has gotta be young Boris
Coupla Fanzine Blackmarks by Gil Kane
First is onea the beauty chapter headings Kane did for his graphic novel, then as it appeared in The Harvard Journal Of Pictorial Fiction (fancy way of say'n comic fanzine by some frat guys), then the iconic Conan cover with it, then an ad for the GASlite fanzine, and the original of that, then 2 similars. Weirdly enough, the artist of the ad is not promoted as being in the fanzine

Coupla Back Cover Silver Surfers by Jack Kirby
Not too shabby for just being a back cover. First is the back of The Jack Kirby Collector #54 (yes, Virginia, TJKC useta have back covers as awesome as the fronts, and without signage), and then the way I first saw it, as the back of the Masterworks portfolio. And, finally, a Marvelmania Surfer from much earlier that really seems to resonate
Conan Hour by Gil Kane
I can get lost, in a good way, in all the rough work by Kane out there, but this one is especially intrigue'n to me. Maybe cause the published splash is so different and spot on at the same time
Fine-Line Frankenstein by Berni Wrightson
Probly the second most mentioned name on here (a way distant second to Conan, natch) is Frankenstein, but I don't think I've ever put this beauty up before. Amazeball detail, eh? Shades of Barry Smith

And Another Thing(s To Come) by Frank Frazetta
I know we always say what happens at Book Club stays at Book Club, but I was start'n to feel like the only Things To Come I'd left off was this

Shaharizar by Barry Smith
Most amazeballs thing in Storyteller, for me, was Barry's depiction of Axus' home town. We'd seen flashes of the cityscape wonders with Cerebus and Toth-Amon, and even a little sump'n sump'n in Conan, but wow, noth'n like this! Speak'n of Axus, I think this last is maybe a business card? I know Rich Corben had illustrated business cards, and maybe some of the other usual suspects, but I'll haveta get back to you

First Jack Kirby Exhibit
So, just saw this poster promoting the 1975 exhibit of Kirby art at the Museum of Cartoon Art. Apparently, there were a whop'n 20 of them printed. What bugged me was where did I see the poster art before (hopefully in color)? I searched the JK Collector, but nah. Looks very Marvelmania-ish, but nope. Then finally it hit me (the other day I was toss'n my boomerang around, and I couldn't figure out why it kept getting bigger-then, suddenly, it hit me), I'd seen it in Masterworks, which tells me it is toys for tots, without the toys and tots. So great, I know the Toys for Tots poster got colorized, but I can't find this one in color. Help a Cap'n down on his luck out, if you know where's the beef (er, where's the color)

X-O Manowar #0 by Joe Quesada
First the trad'n card, then the centerspread ad in the 25 cent newspaper The Valiant Voice (embiggen and jump back), then the actual cover. Ah, 1993, an excellent vintage

Iron Man by Gene Colan
No way a hero inside a modern suit of armor should be able to puff his barrel chest and flex his massive muscles through all that metal, but luckily, the drab physics of this world couldn't stop Gene
