Many moons ago, I thought of this, and again pulled a Dora (as Steve Martin says, two simple words that solves all problems-"I forgot"). I put up as many black'n white moons as possible, cause that's when Wood moons really shine, methinks. If I skipped sump'n sump'n, please holla

Wally Wood Conquers The Moon

I cannot think of anyone who drew the Moon more effectively. The stark shadows, the rough-hewn circles all create a Moon filled with drama.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more! Wally's moons are the best
DeleteNumber 18 from the top isn't Wood, I'm afraid, but an excellent homage by artist Tom McWeeney, done for Alan Moore's TOM STRONG many years after Wood's death. Gorgeous, though!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I had several reservations about put'n that one up with these, mainly the lack of a Wood sig and the fact that I'd never seen it, but it's nice to put a name, Tom McWeeney, with this great homage, and you're spot on with it being just georgeous
