Blackstar by Bob Kline

Wow.  This is the kinda stuff that fires me up.  Just saw these two cartoon illos by Kline that I'd never seen, and they're che sweet.  Never even heard of Blackstar, but it sounds like a decent concept (the third image has noth'n to do with it, but just saw it also, and John Blackstar is an astronaut who passes through a black hole to end up the hero on this fantasy world).  If you know of more Kline for this project, please holla

  1. Blackstar was more or less Filmation's first attempt at He-Man. Blackstar's origin was transferred to He-Man's mother, his bad guys were revised to be too incompetent ever to mount a real threat, and a transformation sequence involving yelling about power was added. Blackstar was aimed at boys 11-13, and He-Man at boys 4-10. The rest is history.

    1. Thanks for the info! It's nice to know my taste is more mature. Other than the Steranko poster, I've never been a fan of He-Man
