A John Fantucchio Mystery

AND it involves the mysterious hero!  Sweet.  First is the cover for Metro Con 70, then the cover for Metro Con 70 by Sal Buscema, then the cover to Metro Con 71 by Berni Wrightson, then a Metro Con info page by Berni, then a cover for Metro Con 70 by Fantucchio.  Per usual, the Cap'n needs some help here

Rocket Men

The photo is from a movie serial from the fifties, but I saw Rocket Man at the beginning of movies at the army base theater in the sixties

Let's Do The Time Warp Again by Mike Kaluta

See the wayback for the other TW (I really love #2) covers.  This is four years after the others, an entire enlistment for a Zoomie (USAF-you sign away four), so I wonder, is it really?  hhmmmmm.... Irregardless, it's a real beauty

December 1975 Calendar Sketch by Berni Wrightson

Did this calendar ever happen?  I've seen the finished April 1975 illo a ton over the years, but I'd really love to see more of this, if it's "out there."  Please holla

Odd, but I never thought about this in color, until now

Coupla Missing Panels From Conan #3 by Barry Smith

The third image is a busybusybusy page from the British fanzine Orpheus.  Course, I was clueless about British fanzines (see the Warrior cover by Barry for my prime example)

Often Amazed by Wally Wood

That title is a lot clearer in my head, so let me mansplain.  I'm often amazed by how I'm often amazed at what I don't know (and don't I know it).  These che sweet splashes are from 1964 over at Charlton (told you there'd be mansplain'n involved), just a coupla years before Wally did that one-shot Warfront for Harvey, with the incredible Lone Tiger (see lots on the way-back).  The artwork, for me, is right there with Thunder Agents and Total War, and (here come the amazeballs) I've NEVER SEEN THEM

Torific Tor by Bob Kline

First is a black'n white version from the guts of Rocket's Blast Comic Collector #100, then the original cover I been star'n at since the beginning of eBay.  You may already know this, but I'm a Klineasaurus myself (often wished I could remember the first Kline I saw, but I'm pretty sure it was that rock'n cover on Fantastic Fanzine #12), and even the simplest Kliners make me smile.  So, getting to see this awesome cover minus color is "just real nice, Clark!"  (oh-oh, little early on the holiday quotes)

New Web O' Horror! by Jim Pinkoski

Yeah, yeah, just new to me.  First is how I've always seen it, from the great underground Spaced Out (1972), then the reprint of Lair O' Madness version in Graphic Fantasy Annual #1 (both also 1972) with what appears to be the host of LOM, and finally what I assume is how the splash was intended for an unpublished WOH.  Cannae wait for the complete Web next April

Warlock by Gil Kane

Don't think that first image has been up before, and from the moment I saw it at the 7-11 in Clarksville, Texas, I immediately thought of Hogarth's Dynamic Anatomy

The Silver Surfer by Jim Steranko and Jack Kirby

This is instantly onea my favorite posts, Dunnae if I've ever yakked about it, but I saw Breathless with a young Richard Gere when it was in the theaters (1983), and I so dug how Gere's character was obsessively passionate about The Silver Surfer comic.  Me, too.  Onea the constants in my life-long ever-shifting collection has been SS #s1-6 and 18, as well as those FFs that featured the silver one.  Course, with me, it's more about the art, but, whattheheck, it's nice to have a link with a matinee idol.  If you search the surfer on here, you'll see my obsessive passion.  I know it's a geeky thing to do, but I;ve often counted down my fav comic-book characters,  and the surfer is a solid #2, right behind Conan, and ahead of Nick Fury, Cap'n A, Orion, The Swamp Thing, Thor, Dynamo, blahblahblah

A Little Night Music by Craig Russell

And then a big Night Music of the same great pic
