Mister Sandman, Send Me A Dream by Jack Kirby

The Sandman #1 cover.  When I walked into a Seven-Eleven in the heart of Texas (Clarksville) and saw this on the spinner rack, I had a bit of a conniption, kinda like one of those pee shivers.  I remember wondering why all comic covers weren't exactly, wonderfully drawn and inked and colored

  1. I know what you mean! I remember those spinner racks well. There were two of them at the D&M Market in Colfax CA. My parents would give my sister and me a dollar each and we would spent the duration of the shopping trip transported, deciding on our eventual purchases.

  2. And a buck could get us a slew of comics! (or the two piece models of Frankenstein, Spiderman, the Wolfman, Land of the Giants, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Batman, etc, etc,etc....)
