Solomon Kane by Jeff Jones

If Robert E Howard could see these renditions of his fourth best hero, I suspect he would say something like, "just a moment!  not quite THAT somber."

  1. Still he captures his size and resoluteness. Ever see the movie? Not too bad.

  2. This is new information for me (I don't get out much). I'll have to check it out! Along those lines, friends are tell'n me I MUST go to the new Superman movie (I know you can't tell from the Wally Wood drawing I have up as my bio pic, but apparently Russel Crowe is my doppelganger)

  3. Only fourth best? I'd say that's quite debateable! :)

Still, I think you could be right on that sombreness: after all, Kane had a very grim sense of humour, and was even known to laugh on occasion.

  4. Thanks! Yes, I know the order of greatness (after Conan, natch) is quite debateable, so thanks for picking up on my attempt to yank a few chains. They were all amazing characters, but my personal order goes Conan, Kull, Bran Mak Morn, Solomon Kane, Cormac Mac Art Fitzgeoffrey, Thoth-Amon, desert bandits, sailors, time travelers, pigeons from hell victims, everybody he wrote about

  5. I'd put Kane at second place after Conan, but that's just me.
