Some Roy G. Krenkel Books


First are the front and back covers of 1974's Cities & Scenes of the Ancient World, which was (to me at least) the only Krenkel book last century.  I saw it when it came out, in Lois Newman Books, a fantasy/scifi bookstore in a basement on Pearl st. in Boulder.  I looked at it at least once a week, but it was very pricey, and I was a struggling college kid.  Next are the RGK covers, RGK being my one and only Krenkel book, from 20 years ago, and it has a prominent place in my petite collection.  I possess the jungle girl cover.  Don't know about you, but the last one is new to me, and I luvit

  1. Not sure about that last one either, unless it's just a fanzine portfolio. I've thought about getting the Theakston book, though his publications tend to be kind of haphazard. The big Dark Horse "Father of Heroic Fantasy" was pretty inexpensive when I picked it up not that long ago, and probably has the highest print run. It's maybe my favorite, though most of them that I've seen are pretty good. I was hunting around for Krenkel recently and noticed that Lulu.com has print-on-demand compilations of the Howard Collector, which I've added to all the other stuff I have bookmarked. I'm not quite old enough to be president, but if I were. I'd forget about building a giant ballroom and just create a gigantic room full of bookshelves.
