Okay, try'n to get this sequence right. First is how a lot of us first saw Fujitake (didn't even know about the nifty fanzine Star Studded #18 until this century, and promptly obtained it). Next is my all-time fav Fujitake, onea of the most fundundant images on here. Then Dennis did a great one-page story for issue #7 (oops! got so impatient for #8's cover, I messed up the sequence!). Love the two table statues. Then, his third (and last?) TBG cover. Then an interior illo from beneath the che great Neal Adams' cover. If he appears more in TBG, please holla
Couldn't say about covers, but I bet there were probably some Fujitakes in ads; I know Gary Groth put out a portfolio of his art. And it wasn't until fairly recently that I learned Fujitake illustrated some comics for Skywald, which also had a few by Kaluta, Jones, Gene Day and Rich Buckler. Practically a fanzine in its time.
ReplyDeleteYeah, bet you're spot on with TBG ads. Love what Gary Groth brought to the fanzine table, including Fujitake, but this portfolio is intrigue'n. Is it the Pictorial Narrrative, or sump'n else? Anyhoo, Fantastic Fanzine was truly that! Yeah, you or somebody turned me onto Skywald years ago, but I'm yet to find that Fujitake stuff. He AND Jim Pinkoski graced Psycho #7 from Skywald, but I haven't seen it. I did find one of the two pages Pinkoski did, so watch for that soon. Again, as always, yer much appreciated

Thanks for the view of Psycho 7! Man, a Fujitake portfolio from that time would be off the hook! I know how much I treasure the Bob Kline portfolio
