Wither'n by Barry Smith

This is magnificently terrify'n to me, and I'm not sure why.  That road is so familiar

  1. I read an interview with Barry Smith years ago (possibly in an issue of EPIC, but I can't be certain), in it he said about this image that he only did it because he wanted to draw those trees & the muddy track, however, he felt that a print of a drawing of trees wouldn't sell (presumably this was during the Gorblimey Press days, when his output was limited to prints & posters), so he added the ghostly figure & mansion almost as an afterthought, to tie in with the 'fantasy' market.

  2. Makes a lotta sense why the most frightening thing to me is the road itself--thanks
