Another Thermal Man by Jack Kirby

Had a robust Thermal Man post in the wayback, but I forgot this unused page from the Marvelmania Portfolio.  Taint very thermal anyhow, but che great looks at Fandal and Balder The Fraidy-Cat (errr-Balder The Brave) and Hogun

Culled Kulls by Barry Smith

Only the first image is new on here.  If you see somea the waybacks on here, you'll see I've always dug the lush finishes Wally Wood brought to Kull #1, and of course "there's no Severin like a Kull Severin," but, man, I so woulda loved Barry doing some Kull Komics

Under Da Sea by Wally Wood

Only the first is new on here, but, man, please embiggen that one.  I saw the Daredevil splash long before I knew of an Undersea City book cover, so I was all discombobulated to realize the book came 7 years before the comic

Good Grief! by Jack Kirby

A week ago (exactly), I put up the best Chall-Town, but this one's none too shabby, neither.  From Showcase #11, sounds like the Challengers of the Unknown talked a lot like Charlie Brown back in the fifties.  If you haven't noticed over the years, my version of Good Grief! is Oh My Heck!  Basically, none of us want to be accused of having a potty mouth.  Funny thing is, almost daily in kindergarten, my teachers had to wash my mouth out with soap

Silver Age Atom by Gil kane

At the beginning (roughly) of the century, I finally made it to Portland, and my one and only visit to the legendary Powell's Book Store.  Saw a ton of amazeball books there, including a stack of the over-sized coffe-table book The Silver Age of Comic Book Art.  On sale for five books.  Nice.  I often wonder why the heck I didn't hold onto it, but, hey, there's a lot more precious stuff out there than this that I sold for a moment's pleasure, so no surprise.  The book was full of these wonderful giant two-page splashes by Kirby, Ditko, Kirby, Steranko, Kirby, Adams, Kirby, and Kane

Al Williamson Archives Vol. 2 Cover

Luv star'n at this one (please embiggen)!  After his Flash Gordon stuff, I think this is my fav picture by Al, and that's say'n a lot for me, cause those Fleagles working on EC projects did just amazeballs stuff.  Speaking of Fleagles, Angelo Torres needs a better look on here, methinks

Chall-Town by Jack Kirby

Second image up before (if you haven't seen New Jack Cities before, please look em up), but I think the first image is new on here.  Both are the splash from The Challengers of the Unknown #4, when the Challs go to the future.  My copy is from the reprints of the super special some 2 decades after, so I'm wonder'n if those first colors are from 1958.  Whatever, cause I dig em both

Teleported Television Antennae by Rich Corben

I kinda knew of these odd rooftop decorations before he drew them, maybe cause I grew up with similar items on every roof

Six Million Views Part Deux! by Neal Adams

When Russ commented on the last post that I was now officially bionic, I immediately flashed to this, and (correct me if I'm wrong, cause I was wrong that one time when I said I was wrong) I'm pretty sure I've never had these up on here

Coupla Iconic Reboots by Steve Ditko

Like many of us, Cap'n Atom and Blue Beetle just needed a fresh start to really shine.  Kinda stretch, but these two take me back to my single digit age, when I was outside from dawn to dusk.  Whenever I'd take a pretend grenade or laser blast or was chopped down by a fake sword, I seemed to only be able to lay down and play possum for a moment, then I HAD to jump up and yell, "New guy!" and instantly rejoin the fray
